Apple and Samsung remain dominant as competition tightens
In Q1 2025, the global smartphone market showed stable performance with only limited growth. According to Canalys, 296.9 million smartphones were shipped, nearly the same as last year.
Canalys: Growth stalls, but momentum is building
Samsung led the market with 60.5 million units (20%), followed closely by Apple with 55 million (19%). The gap between the two is narrowing, signaling an intense rivalry.
Top 5 smartphone vendors by shipment:
- Samsung – 60.5M (20%)
- Apple – 55.0M (19%)
- Xiaomi – 41.8M (14%)
- vivo – 22.9M (8%)
- OPPO (incl. OnePlus) – 22.7M (8%)
Other brands shipped 94M devices in total. Combined, BBK brands (Oppo, Vivo, Realme) account for almost 20% of global shipments.
Vivo rises, OPPO declines, Xiaomi stays steady
